Design Process

We have see how the sphero works, learned how to control the mars lander on the website, done some of our sketches/brainstorm and have starting to design our mars lander. The biggest concern is the wheels, the paper cup wheels are not that good. I hope that we can get some Lego wheels or some other type of wheels. We possibly might make a trailer like structure with the ice block sticks & glue. We will make a square to keep the sphero in the middle and make the trailer move and put in items such as Lego blocks, rocks. I hope that the group does not fool around and just be like “eehhh I don’t wanna do this” because previous groups who I have worked with have done that mainly because they were both friends and they just want school to be over. The good side is that I am really excited about making it, I am not the best at making stuff.

About Mars

The gravity of Mars is only about 38% surface gravity on Earth, so if you weigh 100 pounds on Earth, you would weigh only 38 pounds on Mars because of the gravity there. This is what the terrain looks like and I am trying to make my Mars lander move on this terrain, really rocky and hard to drive.

The Sun on Mars is a little different like us, the Sun comes around every season and it looks different as you can see on the side. It does not get direct sunlight.

Using JavaScript With Sphero

JavaScript is a very used code language it is used by chrome, firefox, internet explorer and safari. It is very easy to use and it works really well with the sphero and the app is super smooth and has tutorials on anything if your stuck. If you are considering a job in software development, technology, or robotics, it is a valuable language to know since there is a lot of jobs around it.All most every games, websites and search engines are all created with JavaScript. The Sphero is really amazing here are some reasons, You can program it to do any shape and on voice command, move it with your own fingertips. Change the color, make it have sound effects and so much more!

Hypothesis

Our Robot might have wheels with chains on them because they can drive on rocky terrain. We will make our robot go nice and fast so if it gets in trouble it can get away quick. I know it's going to work because we made it have 4 wheels so it can go any direction.

Guinea Pig

Whaea Katie got to guinea pigs called Rocky and Elvis. We had to explain about them. Where they come from and what not to feed them here is my slide.

Bottle Flipping

For maths we are doing Statistic's and we did a competition for who ever did the most bottle flips. Also your only get 20 tries I only got 6 here is the graph showing how many we all managed to get. Rodeshar, Cassidy and Tearu all got 12 which was the most and Navarah and Rivir didnt manage to get any.

Harold

On Wednesday and Thursday we went to Harold and we learned about the tricks to make somebody do something that you dont wanna do also about cool things and uncool things. Also here are some pictures.

What Now!

On Wednesday we got to meet What Now and Springfield school. We went to the train station.
It was so exciting when we saw them on the train and they were waving out to us we waved back. When they got off the train our Greymain Kapa Haka performed the Haka to the What Now crew and Springfield school. Springfield school gave everyone in our Kapa Haka group gunge and we were on Tv.

For art we are doing a hand 3D. I learnt how to draw my hand neat and tidy and I made it look 3D.

Te Matatini

On Ramere 6 o Poutu-te-rangi Te Hiringa and Whaea Michelle, Matua Tony, Matua Emille,Whaea Terena and Whaea Mellissa.It was the frist time it held in the South Island in 30 years.At Matatini there is rides like soccer but you are the balls 5 people at a time. The best bit is the Kapa Haka bit I was existed. It was the first time I have seen Kapa Haka in Matatini and it was fun.By Lakin
